Add to Cart Problems

I'm having issues with commerce. First, I have no options for displaying my cart-that part of the design doesn't exist in any template I've tried for this site. Also, when any one clicks the "purchase" or "add to cart button", it automatically takes them to the cart which I don't want. I cannot seem to find how to fix this anywhere within the site or on forums. When I go back out, there is no cart displayed and no way to access a cart without adding more items which automatically force the cart page. This is extremely frustrating. The only code I have is for the fonts and colors and I pulled that all off to see if it would reset or this issues would disappear and they did not. I'm working off of the Hyde template if that helps.
