Adding multiple items all with the same variant options

Hi,

I've started putting a store together (in 7.1) and was wondering how best to achieve editing multiple items to have the same options? To add context: setting up a store to sell photos, currently all will have the same variant options (size/finish etc), is there a way to bulk edit those options so they apply to each item or do I have to add them to each manually as I add a new item to the store? I have been looking but not sure I've been using the correct search terms to find a useful answer (I dont think I mean/need the upload of an excel edited file, or do I?)

If you are adding products one by one, you can create a product to use as a template, and add the variants you require to this. If you save this product without publishing it, the product "template" will remain hidden from visitors, but you can duplicate it to create new products with the same variants. Note that you'll want to change the URL of each product as you create it. Do do this, click EDIT in the Marketing section of the Product Editor when editing the new product.

If you are adding products in bulk, you can upload them, complete with their variants.

Ah ok, thanks. Yes I saw an option to duplicate whilst trying to figure this one out but was hoping for a slightly slicker approach. 
So there’s currently no way to batch edit items with similar variants? They have to be done one by one (or duplicated from an original)

@CaptainBarnacles There isn't a way to "batch edit items" within the Squarespace UI.

However, when I want to bulk upload hundreds of products I will import products from a .csv file. You can import up to 10,000 products in this way, with up to 250 variants per product.

sounds like a combination of the two might be the way forwards then, duplicate a few instances and then copy/paste inside a csv file 👍
