How to fix "Video outside the viewport" error from Google console?

Recommended Posts

About a month ago I started receiving errors from my Google Search Console about videos suddenly being outsite the viewport and thus not indexed on my website. I haven't changed the pages or the videos for years, so I have no idea why the problem suddenly occurred.

An example of a page, that Google says is affected: https://www.escapist.dk/spilcafe

I can see from the live URL test on Google Search Console that the videos shouldn't be showing up on mobile devices, though they work fine on my own devices and on SquareSpace's page preview.

Google defines the error like this:

Quote

The video must appear in the viewport when loading the page to be considered for indexing. Move the video so that the entire video is inside the renderable area of the page and seen when the page loads.

But I don't know what a viewport is or how to move the videos into one on SquareSpace.

Can anyone help me out? Do I actually need to do anything? Can I do anything?

Hi,

The page doesn't exist. Can you check it again?

Sorry for only just seeing your reply now, I didn't receive a notification about it.

I edited the link, however, since posting the question, the relevant error no longer appears on my Google Search Console. I didn't change anything related to the page, so I'm not really sure why it suddenly disappeared by itself after 4 months.

I have recently started getting the same messages, and the more I do to try and solve the issue the worse it gets. Originally Google found seven such videos that could not be indexed but now it says there are nine.

Add me to the list. I am getting the error for 2 videos that we haven't changed in months. I have tested this out on a laptop and mobile device but I don't see any issues. When I inspect the page, I don't see anything wrong but I am not a coding expert. To me it looks like Squarespace handles the viewport size automatically compared to a WP site.
