beatnomad
Anyone know how to add a redirect from an AMP page to the desktop version? Also: once you turn off AMP in settings, will this only impact future page? Or will it also turn off AMP on previously published pages? I disabled a few days ago and I still see the AMP version of all blog articles live. There's not much info out there on disabling AMP so any learnings y'all have had would be much appreciated. creedon
The URL Mapping feature only works for non-existent pages. I think if you turn off AMP, it will turn off AMP everywhere. I just don't see SS being sophisticated enough to track the on/off status of this feature. Find my contributions useful? When you disable AMP, it is disabled for all posts, past and future. However, pages you've previously viewed will have been 'cached' so it may take some time for the updated versions to show. beatnomad
Thanks— It doesn't appear to be an issue with my browser caching. Even after I clear my cache, I'm still able to access the AMP version of pages. Are you saying that it will take some time for Squarespace to update their cache?? It's been 2 weeks already so... I also see that squarespace redirects don't support URLs with parameters (such as ?format=amp). Any suggestions on how to handle the redirect once the AMP versions are eventually taken down? Collaborada
@beatnomad Google says to configure redirects for removed AMP pages, but (at this time) Squarespace doesn't do this. We reported this years ago and no change. AMP pages are accessible for every SS site, regardless of AMP settings. If you toggle off, Google will eventually stop showing AMP pages in search, but it can take quite a while to sort out. Note, if you encounter temporary crawling issues, feel free to reach out via my contact form for more info.
