Troubleshooting blog page: "featured image" on post does NOT appear as a thumbnail on blog page

Hi all,

I've spent hours googling this, absolutely no luck, it's been very frustrating. I come from a WordPress background, familiar with CSS, etc. New to Squarespace. 

So.

What I want is to have some sort of image or thumbnail to correspond with its appropriate blog post on the Blog page, like any normal blog, right? I want to see my blog posts, with nice little images, with nice little excerpts. Pretty basic stuff. 

But no matter what I do, whether adding a "featured image" to a post, or inserting an image directly into the post *without*  and *with* a "featured image," I get zero thumbnails on the actual Blog page.

Many of the tutorials I've seen have "thumbnail image" instead of "featured image" in their post options, I'm wondering why mine doesn't have that.

Bedford template, 7.0.
