Hi friends, I really need help on this. I've followed every single step of the process: Connecting third-party domain (provider: Crazy Domain). It's still not working. CNAME entry for verify square space still as "Record not found".

CNAME entry looks identical. But still not finding.

And this message (attach) is showing on the webpage. I don't know what to do.

You do not appear to have added the Verification CNAME record to the third party's DNS settings yet.

Thanks for your comment, Paul.

That's why i'm confusing. I did include the verification CNAME record

Exactly the way the guide suggested. Still not working, it's been like that for weeks now.

😕

Same for me.
Site url: www.provanso.lt
Verified using TXT and CNAME. Even gave to someone who has built dozens of websites - still record not found.   We've been trying to fix it for 2 weeks already. That's for "easiest" experience building webs.

I am trying to bring my domain to square space from Go Daddy.

The code provided by SS wasn’t working & support at GD gave me a different code.

The domain has gone from my GD account and they have confirmed it has been transferred to SS.

On my SS account it still says Transfer in Progress - please contact your provider & update the IPS tag.

I am total technophobic and really struggling to understand the terminology on the help pages.

I have no idea what to do next. Grateful for any help / advice

Transfers are slow and can take up to 15 days. There are a few status messages to look for in the Domains panel after confirming the domain transfer. The status labels tell you where your domain is in the process and any steps you should complete.

Hi

Am trying to connect my squarespace site to our Crazy Domains domain. It says in squarespace that it is connected, no error messages or anything. But when I try to go to the website address I get the error "This website is pending domain owner verification"
I don't have any messages or emails about verifying the ownership so I'm not sure where to look.

Thanks

Hello All,

I am have the same issue as Peter_P above:
image.thumb.png.c6ed07e5ad2db8c550666bf4db6d43fa.png

In my Squarespace settings, it says the domain is "connected". The SSL certificate status is "Processing". It might be a case of waiting for 72 hours for the SSL to Process, BUT the message "This website is pending domain owner verification" leads me to believe that I am required to verify the domain. Like Peter_P, I cannot see where I need to verify it? There are no error messages present on my domain providers website.

Could anyone please let me know, is it just a case of waiting 72 hours, or am I required to do anything at this point? Thank you in advance!

@Peter_P @Michael_Walkling Have you verified the domain by creating the Verification CNAME record that points to verify.squarespace.com?

To explain, after you've followed the first few steps to connect your domain, the next step is to create this Verification CNAME record using your domain provider's DNS panel. You'll be using the string of numbers and letters that Squarespace show in your site’s DNS settings panel.

Thank you for your reply, Paul. The issue sorted itself out in the end. Just checked and the website is appearing as it should using the connected domain. I guess it takes a couple of hours for these things to process.

It says "not secure" in my browser window, and the SSL is still being processed. I'm guessing this issue will be resolved after 72 hours.

Thanks again.

Hi friends (and Paul)

I'm facing a similar issue as to OP.

Site URL: http://anti-dirty.xyz/

I followed the steps to connecting my Namecheap domain to my Squarespace site, keying in the nameservers etc. Domain settings say its connected, but the same message is showing up: "This website is pending domain owner verification"

Could yall help? Thanks!

Hi there

I've never had this issue before but my domain name has been connected and the verification information updated.

The website is still saying "Pending owner verification".

It's been atleast 12 hours - is there still a propagation issue, or am I missing something?

Posted

I have followed the instructions to connect my domain hosted outside of Squarespace by following the guide here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812378-Connecting-a-domain-to-your-Squarespace-site

  • I've added the unique code pointing to verify.squarspace.com, the www pointing to ext-cust.squarespace.com and added all of the additional A records.
  • In the Domain Settings, the domain says "Connected" and SSL certificate status is "Active".

Yet I'm still getting the message pending domain owner verification when I go to my website (http://www.apeiron-bio.com).

  • How long does the verification take?
  • Do I receive an email through my domain host that I need to verify?
  • Anything else I should try?

Any help would be appreciated.

All the responses I've seen to this question suggest adding a CNAME verification record to the registrar's DNS settings, but here's what I don't understand:

  1. Does "This website is pending domain owner verification" mean that the owner/end user has to take an action, or does it mean that the registrar and/or hosting company are updating records in the background, and no action is required by the owner/end user? As written, it's unclear - and I'd like to confirm if it means there's an email in someone's inbox that requires confirmation?
  2. The guidance for adding a CNAME verification record in the registrar's DNS only seems to apply when using the DNS Connect method. In my case, I used the Nameserver Connect method, which I'm told doesn't use the random string CNAME host record needed for CNAME verification. Is this correct? image.thumb.png.42aa4a67932e96b06a5e279a7b13bf51.png

The nameservers and A records are showing correctly on dns lookup but no CNAME records are showing up. Nothing unusual or notifications appear in the NetworkSolutions domain settings, which appear to have propagated correctly.

Lastly, is there anything to do besides wait out the clock and restart the process using DNS Connect?

Has anyone had better luck with one connection method over the other?

Thanks!

Hello!

I'm having the exact same problem as you are at this very moment, and it has been about 45 minutes. I'm going to wait a bit and see if this changes.

To your questions:

The "pending owner verification" I think essentially means that records are propagating/verifications are pending and you don't have to do anything, although that is worded poorly imho. I never got any kind of e-mail confirmation either.

I used the Nameserver Connect method as well, and yes that's correct, it doesn't using the random-string verify records because you're using Squarespace's own nameservers in that case.

I'll report back here a bit later today with an update.

I am trying to connect my Squarespace website to a third party registered domain.

Current status says it's connected.

But when I click on the domain it says "This website is pending domain owner verification".

Tried all Squarespace tutorials but still getting this message.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi There -

I have completed the process to disconnect domains from a previous squarespace site and connect the domains to the new site. I manually added the Squarespace Nameservers as per the instructions. But it has been an hour since the sites were connected and I am getting a "This Website is Pending Domain Owner Verification" error.

Can you please advise how to rectify this as I cannot add verification CNAME records to GoDaddy or Squarespace.

You should have received an email that will allow you to verify ownership, if you haven't received that you will need to check which email address the domain is registered with.

Hi Ziggy - I haven't gotten an email. Would this be coming from Squarespace or Godaddy? Is there any other way to verify? This is urgent
