I manage 4 different sites and for the past 3 days every single site shows up with the "something went wrong. Please refresh the page to try again." error anytime I try to edit any section. The websites are performing fine otherwise, but I'm not able to complete any updates.

I am also having this issue. I manage a website for a government agency and I can't make any changes to the site. I gave it the weekend, believing Squarespace would resolve this, but it's still down today and live chat is down and the waiting list for a phone call was crazy long.

An injected code for the Userway accessibility widget has started causing issues when we want to edit pages and shows up an error message where text should be. If I delete the code I'm able to edit my pages but we would like to have the widget available on our website. Does anyone know if there is a way to make the code work without disrupting our ability to edit our site?

The code injected into the header is: <script src="https://cdn.userway.org/widget.js" data-account="L2tBPDWdlT"></script>

I believe that you want to install this in the Footer Code Injection, not the Header code injection.

Unfortunately injecting it into the Footer doesn't resolve the issue. But thanks for the suggestion!

I've been having this issue since 10/11 on two sites. I sent a note to Squarespace tech support, and received a reply that the problem was due to custom code, and that disabling scripts took care of it. They were not able to fix the problem, but said I should check all the code I've added. The only code I've added to the site, however, were podcast embeds from Buzzsprout. I removed them all, but I'm still having the problem.

I am also having the same issue. Was told it was a custom code. I cannot add any edits to my pages unless in safe mode

This can't be it for me. I don't really use custom codes, because my design is fairly simple. The only code I changed in the past few weeks was a single re-direct. I removed that re-direct and the problem is still there.

Something went wrong. Please refresh the page to try again.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add page
  2. Add section
  3. Nothing shows so I hit save
  4. Section there so I click edit
  5. Error pops up

Happening on multiple websites on 2 different admins and computers

I figured it out and I spoke with Square Space tech support. I work for a government agency that provides services to people with disabilities. Several months ago I added the User Way accessibility widget to our website, to make the site more accessible. At some point last week, Square Space changed their code and now having the User Way widget on my site make the site uneditable.

This is not a good thing for me, because if our site is not accessible, then we will get sued in court for not meeting accessibility standards. But also, I need to be able to edit my site.

This issue appears to be caused by a change to the code used by the UserWay accessibility tool that is overwriting Squarespace functions (as confirmed by @michaeleparkour). It is not a change by Squarespace. The solution is to either remove the tool or to add some code to prevent it from loading when the site is being edited.

Hi there,

I've encountered an error this week that prevents me from being able to edit a page on my site: https://www.marbleandmilkweed.com/moongifts

I've contacted support, but they say:

"After doing some testing on my end, I found that the issue was resolved when I disabled scripts on the preview version of your site. You can learn how to disable scripts on your end here:

https://support.squarespace.com/hc/articles/205815908#toc-disable-scripts-in-preview

Here's a short video of how it works:

https://share.squarespace.com/o0uKeRq9

Because the issue was resolved by disabling scripts, the problem is likely caused by custom code you’ve added to your site. Troubleshooting code falls outside our scope of support, so we can’t pinpoint the exact code responsible for the issue. I’d recommend reviewing any custom scripts you’ve added to code blocks or code injection and try removing them one at a time to determine which one is causing an issue.

Updates to the platform can cause a site's custom code to behave differently or break. This means custom code can interfere with your site's behavior or stop working at any time, even if it previously worked or wasn't interfering."

I've tried removing several of my scripts in code injections, but that does not seem to be working. Wondering if anyone might be able to help me pinpoint the issue? I am assuming that this is not a CSS issue, correct? So I can confine my investigations to the code injection spaces. Here are my current scripts in the head code injection box, below. I also have the code for the Peachs loyalty program in my footer and and order confirmation page scripts, but nothing has changed with those forever, so I don't think that is the issue. I did just add the one to connect to Google Merchant accounts, so I suspect it could be that, although I've now deleted that and it's still not working. Anyway, hoping someone can help!

<script>
  (function(w, d, t, h, s, n) {
    w.FlodeskObject = n;
    var fn = function() {
      (w[n].q = w[n].q || []).push(arguments);
    };
    w[n] = w[n] || fn;
    var f = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0];
    var v = '?v=' + Math.floor(new Date().getTime() / (120 * 1000)) * 60;
    var sm = d.createElement(t);
    sm.async = true;
    sm.type = 'module';
    sm.src = h + s + '.mjs' + v;
    f.parentNode.insertBefore(sm, f);
    var sn = d.createElement(t);
    sn.async = true;
    sn.noModule = true;
    sn.src = h + s + '.js' + v;
    f.parentNode.insertBefore(sn, f);
  })(window, document, 'script', 'https://assets.flodesk.com', '/universal', 'fd');
</script>

You're right. Thank you for saying that. I just got spoke with User Way and they admit it's their problem. They're working on a fix now.

Could you post what their solution if they send you a fix? This is the exact issue I'm having with Userway!

It looks like Userway has fixed this issue. I just re-installed the single line of code on my client's site and (knock on wood) all is well. My own website is also behaving, with Userway active.
