dns settings problem

Hello,

I bought a domain from Squarespace and I want to change it with my existing Shopify website's domain. However, I am unable to set up my DNS settings on the Squarespace domain page. Every time I try to add a new record, I get the error message "Custom record not saved. We were unable to save this record. Try again later. If this problem continues, contact Customer Support." It has been almost 2 weeks. I am trying to edit my Google Workspace DNS settings, but there is no button for editing or making changes. When I click on the "Add present" button, it only brings up the default settings. Can anyone who has knowledge about this issue help me?

Thank you for reply, problem solved. I am adding the solution below for people who will have the same problem.

In order to add the A record you will need to delete the Squarespace Default. To do that click the link here:

https://platinum-cat-xpfl.squarespace.com/config/domains/managed/eyfelcosmetic.us/dns-settings

And then click the trash can next to Squarespace Default.

Once you've done that let me know and I can help you add the records to point to Shopify. For reference, we will be going through the steps in this guide:

Pointing a Squarespace domain: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/215744668?source=search

Wonderful! Now you will need to scroll down to custom records and add the following record:  "

its work for me! in order to delete the default you need to create a new account and then invite that account now you can manage to delete the default on that new account, and add new CNAME

To anyone like me that faces this problem and gets no answer from CS.

Go to Permissions, invite another account (use your other email), and make changes with this new manager account. It worked for me! Hope to help others with rush:)

This worked for me

Same Here. Getting the same issue.. Having lots of trouble just to configure DNS. Can some one from the SquareSpace Community take look on this issue.. seams this is the blocker to add the new DNS record.

It's really bad and disappointing that we have to deal with it like this

Same issue here and with added complexity of attempting to transfer a domain from another registrar.   Currently in the uneasy purgatory between transfer requested and pending approval by current DNS provider.  Cannot really get ahead of the game by setting DNS records properly at Squarespace because the default A and CNAME records cannot be deleted and redefined in advance.  Have to wait for the transfer, site breakage, and then fix.  Fun process Squarespace... I this workflow needs a re-think.
