golovemd Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 I am not sure if the URL above will work, I am just starting to build the site and it's not live yet. I am looking to add a custom field that allows a customer to enter text or upload an image to send in with their order. We will be creating custom laser engraved products and they will need the ability to add this info with their order. I cannot find anywhere to do this. I MAY have found where they can enter text, but not upload an image. If I edit the product and scroll to the bottom, I can add custom forms, BUT, I am not sure how this info is entered/sent to us from that point. Does it just show in the order page when an order comes in? If you can guide me on this and how to add a field for them to enter their logo/image files, I would be very grateful. Thank you

Squarespace doesn't yet have any of the features required for custom engraved products. As you mentioned, you can prompt custom text using a Product Form. This form will appear when the customer clicks the Add to Cart button. The information will be included in the order notification that you (and the customer) receive. However, there are a number of limitations: Customers will not be able to upload images with orders. You'll need to prompt for this later in the order process, for example on the order status page or in the order confirmation email, but this will inevitably cause a lot of additional order friction and administration as you chase for responses. You cannot vary the price according to the options in the Product Form. For example, you cannot charge per letter. Did this help? I am worried about this approach as a) Squarespace will offer no support for this and b) simply trying to use Wufoo's site keeps running me in circles (I click to add a form and it tells me to login, when I am already logged in). I am wondering if I should look for a Squarespace alternative that hopefully allows for this. The options seem awfully limited to me. If they are going to actively advertise themselves as a ecommerce site builder and host, they have to up their game

It's true that you can add a Wufoo form (or a Jotform!) to Squarespace but the form won't appear as part of the purchase workflow. This means that the customer will need to click on a link to the form and complete it independently of the add-to-cart -> cart -> checkout process. golovemd Posted October 14, 2023 Author Posted October 14, 2023 Thanks. That is exactly what I do not want. I am exploring other options now. Wix offers the ability to add a image at checkout within their system without the use of 3rd party forms. I am looking at the templates offered and while I like the Squarespace templates better (so far from what I've seen), The end user experience and not giving them the feeling of a two bit operation is important, which a link to a different site to add a form seems to be, at least to me. I may have to go that route which stinks as I was hoping to keep all of my sites on one platform.
