Why can't I add courses to my Squarespace storefront?

Hi, I'm under a Business plan, and I'm trying to sell courses on my Squarespace storefront, but I can't seem to add them to my store page. When I try to add a course, it opens a separate page, and I can't add it under "Shop All."

Is there a workaround for this issue? Or when will courses be supported as a product type in Squarespace Commerce?

Here with the same question. I have added a 'Digital Product' block in the product description and marked the item as sold out so people won't buy it from the store. It's not ideal, very messy and confusing.

I am in the same boat here. It's deceptive in how it looks like you can add a digital product (i.e. course) to your store, BUT then it does NOT create that digital product WITHIN the store, but instead as a stand alone page.

Customers want a streamlined shopping experience whether it's physical or digital. Furthermore, they are not likely going to take the course the moment they buy/sign up for it, and would need to go thru the check-out sequence... so why not make it an easy sell in ONE place so it's not so confusing to the customer...

Hi! I have been battling this too. I discovered that I can place my COURSE or VIDEO SERIES under "not linked". Then I can add a button in my page and link the button to the course or video series.

Goodluck!

Shoot. I was thinking of using "courses" for my Squarespace template shop. I guess it's back to the drawing board.

I'd love to be able to have multiple "courses" that are filterable the way products are.

What I don't understand is that it is listed in the SHOP add product section, but when you add it it doesn't show up as a product. Super frustrating, it also automatically goes up under my main navigation, which is annoying as it shows up in my menu right away before building!

I am also feeling frustrated by this limitation.  I would like customers that are shopping on my online store, to see courses available to purchase.

Squarespace are you seeing this conversation and are going to respond?  Should we expect this to change in the near future?  I am considering my other course platform options.

My other major limitation is that my students can have a log in, but there is no defined area where I can see the students enrolled in one particular course, and to see where they are at with their course progress and contact them as a group.

I'm new to Squarespace and so far it has been an amazing upgrade from Wordpress, etc. However, I am a little concerned that their customer service seems non-existent. I sent a request a week ago, no response. And now under this very important topic, also no response!

Has anyone found a solution to this very strange issue? Why would courses not fall under the Shop links? How do we link to the course at all so that people will be able to buy it?

Very confusing that it hasn't been addressed.

That's interesting. For me, it goes under my unlinked pages and doesn't show up on the menu or anywhere else. So I'm unclear on how to structure this. Are we supposed to build a landing page and then somehow link to the course product?

Okay I seem to have found a solution (or, better said, a workaround) for my client, but first I want to say that Squarespace has completely failed the job of making the experience of both selling and buying digital goods easy and comfortable. It is a total mess. If you create a digital store, you can't add any existing courses to it. If you create a discount, you can't cover several courses with one code. And that is not all I have to say. Anyway, I regret my client's having chosen Squarespace at this point, but here we are.

So, if you want to have all your courses in one place, have landing pages for them and be able to give your customers direct links to them, DO NOT USE STORE PAGE AT ALL.

Use PORTFOLIO page instead.

This way you'll have a set of tiles you can add title and price to, clicking on each will bring up a landing page. Then add a block "Digital product" onto the landing page, so that customers could buy the product and you're done.

Drawbacks:
Any store features like bulk discounts, badges and such won't work.
You're pretty much locked to one layout.
No cart, products can only be purchased one by one.
I might've missed something here.

Anyway, this approach gives a bit more flexibility and much less frustration than selling courses through the shop page. It is far from being optimal, but that's something.

It's worth remembering that a Portfolio page is limited to 60 "projects" too.
