DarrenF Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Hi all, I'm trying to improve SEO for my website and would like some advice on this. Based on my understanding, we should avoid submitting duplicate content to search engines. I noticed that some of the tags in my blog are being indexed via Google Search Console. aleesawilliam1 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) Whether or not you should hide all categories and tags from a collection from search results to avoid duplicate content depends on a few factors, including: The size of your collection. If your collection is small, then it's less likely that you'll have duplicate content issues. However, if your collection is large, then it's more likely that you'll have duplicate content issues, especially if you're using the same tags for multiple items. The nature of your collection. If your collection is about a specific topic, then it's less likely that you'll have duplicate content issues. However, if your collection is about a broad topic, then it's more likely that you'll have duplicate content issues. The way you're using categories and tags. If you're using categories and tags to organize your collection, then it's less likely that you'll have duplicate content issues. However, Names cluster are using categories and tags to promote content, then it's more likely that you'll have duplicate content issues. If you're concerned about duplicate content issues, then you can hide all categories and tags from a collection from search results. However, this may also make it more difficult for users to find your content. It's important to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. Here are some additional things to consider: If you hide categories and tags from search results, you'll still be able to see them in the search results for your own site. If you hide categories and tags from search results, you'll need to make sure that your content is still discoverable through other means, such as through your site's navigation or through social media. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to hide categories and tags from search results is up to you. There is no right or wrong answer, and the best decision for you will depend on your specific circumstances. Edited September 14, 2023 by aleesawilliam1

SEOSpace_Henry Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Hi @DarrenF - I recommend removing them. They're unlikely to generate any direct traffic and often have thin content on, so best to remove. Henry Purchase Founder of SEOSpace - the SEO plugin for Squarespace. DarrenF Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 Hi Henry, thanks for the response. When you say remove them, are you talking about the check boxes to hide the categories and tags from search results or something else to remove them completely from the blog?
