How to move a "former" Google domain out of Squarespace and then relink it back to my SS site?

My Squarespace site connects to a domain name that I had registered with Google.  Now that Google has sold/transferred their domain business to Squarespace, my domain registration is now with SS (without giving me the option to do something else).

 I want to move the domain registration to a different registrar.  How do I do this without crashing my SS website and without losing my Google email workspace?  (I don't have a clue what Google/SS did with that during the transfer!)  Thanks
