When I published the site, it connected to the default URL and not my public domain. That registered with Google and now when I pull up Google Search Console, its got seabass-tuatara-97zt.squarespace.com and not stxvending.com. I am unable to find how to go into the DNS record for stxvending.com and insert the string that Google Search Console looks for to verify my ownership of the site.

Do I just disconnect the public domain and reconnect it and plug in the string? I've never done this before so, just want to make sure if I pull the domain offline to do this, its the right thing to do.

You shouldn't need to remove your domain.

Where do you have the domain registered?

What verification have you got from GSC?
