Getting ducks in a row to move to a 7.1 platform

I'm getting ducks in a row to start the arduous process of migrating all content from a SQ 5 site to a new SQ 7.1 site.  I understand there is a 2-week free trial, but in much likelihood I will not be able to finish the project during that time.  Assuming you start paying on day 15.  Does SQ just credit the new 7.1 site's billing with the remaining amount left of the year's subscription fee once I cancel the SQ 5 billing?

Also, it appears there's no way to submit a ticket for actual response from a SQ person if I have a problem and need assistance... is that correct?  There used to be a way to do that on SQ 5 (though the responses in the last few years have gotten laughably (or sobbingly?) slow.
