Digital Download Activity Information

I'm not sure, being a newbie in the forum, if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell if a customer who has purchased a digital download file has actually downloaded it? I've had a few customers ask for refunds saying they never downloaded the file. Any pointers or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. M
