Mailchimp Welcome Email won't send if the contact signs up through Squarespace

I've set up a welcome email in Mailchimp to be sent to all new contacts but it doesn't seem to work. The new contact shows up in my audience list but they don't get the welcome email. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If email appears on Mailchimp audience list, problem should be from Mailchimp. You try contacting Mailchimp support.
