Toggle between with and without featured images in blog collection page

Recommended Posts

Hi! We are designing a blog page that shows all blog post entries with the featured image, the category, the title, and the excerpt below. Our client is asking if we can have a button on the page that let's them view the blog page with "or" without the images, meaning have a "Gallery" view and a "List" view before clicking through to a selected blog post. Is this somehow possible?

Unfortunately, I can't share a URL at the moment. Thanks so much!

You mean if click "without image" option, will show all current images with no thumbnail images?

Yes, that is correct. At the moment we solved this by creating a new page that looks like the blog page and inserted a summary block that shows all blog posts without the featured images, then linked the pages to each other which feels like a toggle between two views. The issues is the limit of 30 items in a summary block, which could be solved with the Lazy Load plugin. We are wondering if there is another or simpler solution. Thanks!

Actually my original idea was to add a "No Image" button, which when clicked will use jQuery code to hide all images on the page. But I'm not sure if the code will work with Lazy plugin, or will need to adjust the code.

Thank you for your response. That is interesting! Would you happen to have this jQuery code? I do not know, though, how to work with jQuery. But if this works we would not need to load a new page with a summary block and would not need a Lazy Load plugin since it would, presumably, work on the same blog page. Is that how you see it? Thanks again.
