HELP PLEASE!!! - Is Animated PNG compatible with squarespace?

Is Animated PNG compatible with squarespace?

I keep finding conflicting information.  

When I try to use one like the attached sample I can see squarespace move through all frames as the file is uploaded but there is no playback after image placement.  I'm trying to find out if this is incompatibility - or if I am using the file incorrectly.

NOTE: it clearly works here in the forum when uploaded... so I feel like I must just be using it wrong because it couldn't be compatible with the forum AND NOT SQUARESPACE ITSELF!  Right?! lol

Help please!

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: So as a little test I pulled the code from the embed on this page and used a code block to add the identical code and boom it works... so I think it may be the squarespace image uploader/reader that is at fault.  So I tried directly calling the uploaded asset using its squarespace ID and a codeblock using similar code and that does not work.... it seems as long as the apng is externally hosted it works.  Does this make sense?

In case anybody comes by and looks for an answer I spoke with support and "adding an APNG file to an Image block won't work. We don't have any documentation on this and reviewing this with my team, they also said it won't be possible."

So you currently need to link to the image hosted elsewhere using a codeblock... when you do it this way the apng's work flawlessly.

Obviously there are some cons to this as well...  so use AYOR
