chris_at_thesquatch
Hi friends, I'm doing physical advertising (billboards, bus stops, flyers, etc) and want to track traffic that comes through my QR codes. I can't seem to create a trackable link with the URL builder, as there's no channel for that. How can I get traffic analytics for my physical advertising? Link to comment
Solution CassAggett Posted August 27, 2023 Solution Share Posted August 27, 2023 Hey Chris, does the QR code you're using allow you to view its own stats? Or were you hoping for this to be within the Squarespace analytics? This page may help explain a bit though likely not what you're after. I haven't done this before, but I wonder if you could create a URL redirect for each physical channel that diverts to the page you're currently sending them to, so you can see how many people are visiting that link? If the QR code is currently going to your Contact page for example, you could create the following URL redirects: /contact-billboard -> /contact 301 /contact-busstop -> /contact 301 etc Then use the URL redirect you've created on each QR code. Again, I haven't done this before, so may be worth doing some testing before using in paid mediums to make sure it captures what you're after! creedon 1 If this helped you, please like or mark my solution as answer so others can scroll to it quickly 👆 Cass Aggett is a Squarespace website designer for go-getting women – no matter what stage of business. chris_at_thesquatch
Thanks, yes, I think that the redirect pages would probably work, even though it involves looking at the flyer hits on a separate page from the other traffic sources, which is a drag. The QR code provider does give scan counts, so that's probably easier. CassAggett 1 Link to comment
Nicky_lm
Hi, wondering if Chris (or anyone else!) sorted tracking physical media sources in squarespace? I'm about to get some new flyers printed before I can finish setting up GA4 and G tag manager, so it would be really handy to just see the web traffic coming from our flyer's adobe QR code - thinking I should only need to add the parameters into the url! I've looked at the utm structure that the Url builder gives you for social channels, and wondering if I customise the "ss_source=" parameters, will this segment the direct traffic in SS Analytics as it would for the digital ads? Or equally, if I use the GA4 utm parameters "utm_medium=", would Squarespace be able to track this in the dashboard? TIA Link to comment
