nataliefaye
Hi all, Working in 7.1, using the Fluid Engine. When adding an image block and then importing an image, where is the option/shortcut to fit the container to the original image dimensions? In InDesign or other layout software, the equivalent would be 'fit frame to content'. The only options available seem to be the other way around, which isn't very photographer-friendly. (i'll be placing a ton of images, all of which are already cropped/size exactly how i want them before importing). I've searched the help menus etc but the only option given is the very awkward dragging of the blue line, which is not precise its just guessing i'm close, doesn't really have a 'snap' when you've hit the original dimensions, and in general is just very time consuming when placing a lot of images where i just want the container to match the image exactly. Surely i'm missing something. Thank you! Link to comment

This is not an option in Squarespace. Web design has a dynamic canvas unlike InDesign or Photoshop as the page has to load on an enormous variety of different screen sizes, aspects, and resolutions. The grid you have to work with in InDesign is almost infinite so the container can fit the image, but the grid you have to work with on Squarespace is 24 columns, a fit container to image simply wouldn't be effective, plus the image when imported doesn't have a specific size for the container to fit to. You can simply use the FIT rather than FILL option which will mean that your image doesn't get cropped. Likely your best option for lots of photos will be a GALLERY section set to STRIPS or MASONRY.
