Why doesn't site header use fluid engine for layout?

You can align certain things in the header.

Alternatively, you could hide the header and create a section in FE that has the same elements as the header.

Probably because it's harder to get wrong this way, Squarespace is designed to be easy to use, so where you are complexity is important to manage, but that said I like your idea! Possibilities...
