Background Video Playing Choppy

To anyone that can help me,

I'm trying to add a short background video to play at the top of my homepage. I tried to use the link to a YouTube/Vimeo video or uploading directly to the video block, but both result in a slow and choppy playback (not how the actual video looks) as well as a lower-quality image. What can I do to fix this?
