Indexing request rejected

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm having trouble with one of my pages on my site whilst the other six pages are behaving fine. The troublesome page is my home page:

www.mattbairdsound.com/home

Google Search Console says 'Indexing Request Rejected'. It has a background video, hidden header and footer sections and the only text on the page only after a couple of seconds delay whilst the vide plays.

Any idea what I have to do to get this page indexed? I'd prefer not have to change the design obvisouly!

Thanks very much,

Matt

My guess is that because this is your homepage you don't need that URL slug indexed because it is effectively a duplicate of www.mattbairdsound.com and not the primary URL for that page. This is normal. Just make sure that www.mattbairdsound.com is indexed.

Hi Ziggy, I'm having the same issue with my website (www.sekoyamedia.com). I tried everything but Google Search Console is rejecting my indexing. Can you help?

It would seem that you're not using the correct URL, but I can't see what you've typed in.

When an indexing request is rejected and your homepage does not appear on Google, it can often be due to a variety of reasons.

First, use Google Search Console to determine why your www.mattbairdsound.com/home page is not indexed. Check the status of your page in Search Console and see what errors or warnings are found.

Check the robots.txt file located in the root directory of your website. This file determines which pages are allowed to be indexed by search engines. If there is a restriction in your robots.txt file that is blocking your home page, this should be removed or fixed.

Create a sitemap and submit it to Google through Search Console so that Google can better crawl and index your site. A sitemap is a list of all the pages and content on your site and can help Google better understand your site.

Optimize the content of your homepage. In particular, it is important to add more text and make your page associated with keywords. Background video and other multimedia elements can negatively impact page loading speed, so try to reduce or optimize unnecessary elements.

Increase the overall visibility of your page by adding external links to your homepage and sharing on social media platforms. External links and social shares can help Google discover your site by crawling and indexing it further.

Check HTTP responses and redirects to your home page. For example, does your page produce 200 OK responses? Also, make sure there are no unnecessary or incorrect directions.

Check the technical infrastructure of your page and fix possible errors. For example, CSS or JavaScript errors may prevent the page from loading properly.

You can learn more about indexing by reviewing Google's guides for webmasters. Following Google's recommendations can increase your page's chances of being indexed. Good luck Matt!
