Add to Calendar Link in Email Campaign

Hi! 

I signed up for marketing email campaigns with my website so I can have an automated email go out. 

People sign onto a mailing list and receive the email right away. In the email I want to have an add event to calendar type link. 

Can the automated email hold an .ics file or is there another way I should be doing this. 

I was thinking of adding an events page in Squaespace and maybe that could be connected but my understanding is that you can not have reoccurring event as this one is. The event is currently in an outlook calendar. 

I'm open to any and all creative ideas. I just would like them being added to the calendar invite automated.
