Maintain scroll position between pages

I'm looking for some custom code that allows me to maintain the scroll position when navigating between pages. What I'm trying to achieve is a way to effectively filter a gallery of images by making duplicate hidden pages. So when you click on "tigers" for example, it will load the hidden page of just images with "tigers". However, since it's jumping between pages and not filtering results on a single page, I want to maintain the page position so it feels seemless.
