claireadams
This is a site for a client of mine that has been live for two months: http://novalynnfertility.com. The favicon shows perfectly in browser tabs, but will not show on Google search. I have requested indexing and re-crawling regularly, have tried inputting custom code, everything I've read on threads and help articles to no avail. I've never had this happen with a website before and the client is incredibly frustrated. I've tried talking to Google with no help or response and Squarespace can't help because it's not their domain. In Google Search Console, there are two versions of the site listed - one with the www and one without. The one without shows the site favicon and the one with the www which is the version listed in Google Search has the Squarespace black box. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. I am so frustrated. Thank you! Edited June 26 by claireadams Missing hyperlink Link to comment
steaphankay
I am having the same issue. I feel like Google is being stricter with its rules. I do know I have older sites that work fine. I like the line in their help page, "A favicon isn't guaranteed in Google Search results, even if all guidelines are met." Edited June 27 by steaphankay Link to comment
SEOSpace_Henry
Hi @claireadams and @steaphankay, Google has a habit of not showing favicons, SEO titles, meta descriptions etc. properly, so don't worry at all, as you're not the only one impacted. From my experience, because the icon is showing on the tab, it's only a matter of time until it also shows on Google Search. Remind your client how long competitors sites have been live - they can't expect to have everything as they want straightaway, Google doesn't work like that. If the site is 2 months old, this isn't very long in terms of Google search - I can see that the website also has no backlinks (attached), which means Google is less likely to take the time to properly review and index your website. To speed things up, I recommend adding backlinks and some additional content on your homepage - adding an FAQ actually on the homepage could help. You could also add some internal links from the body content of other pages, to your homepage. Henry Purchase Founder of SEOSpace - the leading Squarespace SEO experts. Collaborada
@claireadams I see the favicon in search results. But note, it is barely visible and on a dark mode tab it is not visible at all. See more here: https://www.collaborada.com/blog/favicons And FWIW H1s on that page are fine 🙂 Official Squarespace Specialist since 2014 ★ SEO Consulting and Training ★ Link to comment
