Embedding a HTML file into Squarespace page

I have created a data file in R, which I have exported to a HTML file. When I open the file locally, it works perfectly (it is a visual data map of research networks). 

The plan is to embed it on my website. I tried the following:

1. Copying and pasting the HTML code. This did not work, I just got an error (HTTP Error 400; problem accessing widget. Reason: file was invalid)

2. Uploading the HTML file to the Squarespace website, then using iframe embed code. This leads to the file automatically downloading when you go to the website link, and there just being an empty square on the website.

I saw that others were having similar issues in another thread, but it appeared to be resolved in the end for them. I tried their solutions but unfortunately I had no luck. 

If anyone could suggest anything, that would be much appreciated!

Could you try to upload the files to drive using this service and embed it as iframe block?
