Hidden product - not available through direct link?

When you hide a product by setting Visibility to Hidden the product is removed from sale. It cannot be viewed or purchased. It can only be seen by website contributors.

If you want to sell products via a direct URL that are not listed on public Store pages, you'll need to place them in a separate Store page.

The Store page should be placed in the Not Linked section of the Pages panel and you will want to check Hide this page from search results in the SEO tab of the page settings.

First instinctive reaction: 🤯

Why not call it: "disabled" or "inactive" then?

I was pretty certain that "hidden" means visually hidden, but still accessible through the direct link.

Follow up questions:

1. Can I copy product between stores? I already have image, description, etc... I want to preserve the data and only update the price.

2. Assume I have multiple hidden products. If all of them are in a single store, then someone can click on the breadcrumbs / navigation / guess URL and land on the store page that will list all the other hidden products. Does it mean I need to create a separate store for each secret link product?

Maybe a better option, more aligned with Squarespace workflow is to issue promo codes - that will accomplish a similar effect - allowing people to obtain the thing at a reduced price.

You can move a product between Store pages:

Correct. Squarespace wasn't designed for hidden products.

Well... You seem to be very knowledgable. Please pass my feedback to the product team.

My requirement seems common / typical and the naming "hidden" (as opposed to "disables" or "inactive") is genuinely misleading.

It took me a few hours of effort of trial and error, reading forum, scratching my head before posting here and asking for help.

Thanks for posting your question 👏. It will probably help many others in the same situation who are looking for the same answer.

I don't work for Squarespace but you can raise a feature request via Squarespace Customer Care using a support ticket. They'll ensure your request is seen by the right team 🙂.

Hello. I was trying to do the same thing as the owner of the topic and followed your instructions, which worked exactly as I wanted to. However, I'm having an issue while importing products from Printful now. Now, new products after sync simply goes into the new Store page I created for the product I wanted to hide. Instead of the main Store page that they used to appear after importing. Any idea on how to change which page they should appear? It's going to be a headache to move every single product to the main Store page one by one like this and I couldn't find a setting for this.. I provided an image of page section with notes to help pointing out the issue.

Any help will be appreciated.
