Telephone number field

Hello, I would be grateful for help please as the telephone number field in my Contacts page has suddenly started to display the number in the wrong format. ie. instead of 123 456 7890 it shows 1234 567890. I've gone to the Edit field but it doesn't allow me to correct it.
