Unable to Transfer Domain (I promise my code is correct!)

Hey, there -

I'm switching over my domain from BlueHost to Squarespace, and I have (or should have) completed all the steps up to the actual transfer. I've gone through both platform's transfer guides (yes, it's all unlocked, even if you don't have to), I've got my code, and I'm ready to go.

However.

When I paste my EPP, I get an error message back saying my code isn't correct. What it says verbatim, just in case, is, "Invalid Authorization Code." But - I know my code is correct. I just pasted it from an email. I don't own any other domains on that service, so it's not a mismatch. It fits all of the transfer guidelines, it's not an ineligible domain, and the site that's currently hosted on it is live and well. Not sure what else to do at this point - am I doomed to have to connect instead of transfer? That'll work out, but saving $20 and having everything in one place would be really swell, y'know?

Good news, I found a solution to this frustrating issue!

The error I kept getting was 'Invalid Authorization Code', even though I copied and pasted it exactly.

The way I resolved it was to contact the current registrar via their support chat and simply have them reset the Registry Key / Transfer Auth Code. It took 5 mins to complete and the new code worked with the Squarespace transfer process. No need to contact SqSp support.

You're welcome 🙂
