How to change colour of drop down selection menu in a form.

I am hoping to change this drop down selection menu to have the same coloured background as the page?

Anyone know the code to do this?

I've tried the following and it hasn't worked:

.form-wrapper .field-list .field select option {
    color:#F1ECE3
}

Please see the following. Although that thread is about products variant selectors, the select menu part applies to all select menus.
