This issue is specific to your site. I just tested the search page on my test site and it came up there as expected.

We won't be able to help with a Sqaurespace backend issue.

How did you implement access to your search page?

I did nothing magical. I just added /search to the base URL of my site and it worked for me. That is the standard search URL.

I don't think there is any magic here, you need to contact customer support.

Have you installed any custom code? If yes then SS support may not help you. They have a policy of no help when custom code is installed. It is always possible that custom code is interfering but that seems unlikely. If you have installed custom code, remove it. Keep a copy somewhere.

If SS can't help you there is no magic that we can perform to help you.

This sounds like a case where a round robin server is going to the database for the server page and then serving the page as a download file as opposed to an HTML page. Essentially a misconfigured server in a batch of other properly configured servers. This would explain the intermittency.

Well, this issue is actually not solved. Some of my users are having the same issue and I did open a support ticket. I will reply back if they are able to fix the problem.

but I am not sure why this topic is considered 'solved'.

This is what got back from support:

This is Rory following up on our chat regarding the intermittent issue you're seeing with your search link promoting your visitors to download an HTML page.

We’re currently investigating an issue with some browsers treating site search navigation links as downloadable files—thanks for reporting this to us. Our Engineering teams are prioritizing a fix for this as we speak.

For now, I've applied a manual workaround from our end to prevent this from occurring. To be clear, this is a temporary workaround rather than a permanent fix for the issue.

They have been several instances recently where when searching my site, by clicking on the link in the main menu, it downloads a file of no description 115k in size called Search.

Obvioulsy this is not supposed to happen and it worries me that someone is hacking my or overlaying code of somesort.

I have fixed this each time by going into the page and resaving the options to "search site" page.

Anyone else come across this or an idea of how to stop it from happening
