mwguideservice Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Hi everyone, I'm a fishing guide, and unlike other common services I only take 1 booking per day. Most of my trips are 4 to 8 hours and I rarely schedule doubles. I do not care about booking by the hour, only by day. Currently, my "Book Now" button leads to my contact form page. When it's my busy season and I'm getting a lot of booking requests, it's a hassle to sift through emails/voicemails, check my calendar, and relay back just to tell them "your dates aren't available". So, I'm looking to add some type of calendar page where a potential client can view my calendar month by month, see days that are both open or booked, select a day, and then send a request to me to review/accept the booking. There are a number of reasons why I don't automatically take bookings upon button press...primarily, I collect a deposit to secure dates and I usually contact the potential client first to introduce myself, find out a little about their skill level, go over terms/expectations, etc. Sometimes if they book a weekend date (normally busier and tougher fishing), I'll convince them over the phone to go with a weekday and so they'll change their plans. The calendar would preferably either self-update once I accept, or I can maintain it myself on Google Calendar. I'd also love to be able to block out days on the back end...for example if I am going out of town or I just know dates that aren't going to be good for fishing. I have looked at a number of external widgets and most of them are more tailored to services that do multiple appointments in a day, i.e. a hair salon or a massage place. None of them have the monthly calendar view up front either...they all seem to direct users through the desired "appointment" first, and then you pick from time slots. Anyone know any solutions for that might fit?
