Can you link to a project within a portfolio?

I'm redesigning my site by building a new trial site. I was experimenting with the Portfolio function and got really far creating several projects within it. Now I'm realizing that I don't know how to link directly to each project within the portfolio. I'm not even sure if it's possible.

For example, I have a featured project on my homepage. I'd love to be able to link to that project page in my portfolio.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Nice and easy answer for you, it's straightforward to link to a page in the portfolio, just click on the 3 dots on the left (they appear when you hover) next to a portfolio page to get to the settings, and take note of the URL Slug like this one:

Then use that in a button or text link exactly as it appears (without your site URL).

@Ziggy

You're a hero!

Thank you so much for your quick response and your straight forward solution. I tried something similar the other night and it wouldn't allow me to properly edit the URL slug. Somehow tonight the first try worked. But after I kept getting a popup shortcut to link to /portfolio-2/ over and over again, like I did the other night, preventing me from editing. I figured out a way through it so thank you.

I have one other related question: how can I make these URL slugs shorter and cleaner with the name of the project instead of a series of random characters? Is it simply a matter of editing it in the settings section? I don't want to break anything and have to chase down a repair solution.

Thank you again for all your help!

The random characters are there because you duplicated a portfolio item and it needed a unique URL. Any time you duplicate a page or a portfolio item or a blog you need to go into the page or portfolio item settings and set your own good URL slug.

It looks like you should go back and do this for the main portfolio page as well as the individual portfolio items. (I'm guessing /portfolio-2/ is not what you want.)

Once you do this you will (this time) need to go back over any links you have added and fix them as they will now be wrong, but if you set URL slugs at the time of creation then you won't have this problem in the future.

Good luck!
