Persistent problem with "SSL Certificates Unavailable"

Recommended Posts

SSL Certificates Unavailable appears for no reason

I don't understand what the problem is and how to solve it. I don't know how many days, but my site is not available for display due to SSL Certificates Unavailable

It is impossible to contact support, it is very frustrating. I pay for the tariff plan, and my site is not available. And it is impossible to get help from the support.

This message appears because the required domain name records are missing for your domain (nodedevelop.com).

You'll need to log on to your domain name host and create the required records. The guide DNS records for connecting third-party domains explains how to edit the DNS records. You'll also want to delete the incorrect records (for 172.67.196.105 and 104.21.21.48).

Once you have ensured your records are correct you may need to wait several days for the domain to connect and the certificate to be created.

Regarding support, if you are having difficulties contacting Squarespace, please read how to contact Squarespace and follow the guidance provided.

OK so maybe this is a Comcast issue... it seems as though anyone who uses Comcast/Xfinity for internet cannot access it (myself included) unless I turn off wifi and access via cellular.

I have put in a request to whitelist the URL with Comcast – have you ever heard anything like this happening before!?

Which of these A records needs to be updated to Squarespace? I think this is what's holding us back.

I looked at your live records and they were correct. Your SSL was issued 3 hours ago 🙂

@paul2009

Having the same issue. Earlier today my site said the SSL was processing and now its back to SSL Unavailable. I was part of the Google Domains migration to Squarespace. I am not very savvy when it comes to setting this up. I also can't get it to land on https://www.rainflowpros.com/ site. My .com if searched through google still shows what it looked like when it was on Google Domains and not what the site is on Squarespace. I only got it to work with a redirect which goes to rainflowpros.squarespace.com and not rainflowpros.com. However the SSL certificate is unavailable so I am completely lost.

I did go to DNS Settings and added the Squarespace default preset. I am just lost at the moment on how to resolve this...

Hey @paul2009 earlier today my clients site was saying 'processing' and is now 'unavailable'. Its only been 24h since we made the request so is this just a wait longer scenario or should we take other action?

Cheers

Luke

Hi!

I've been waiting for the SSL certificates to process but after 1 week, it won't change status.
I also started a ticket 5 days ago and Squarespace is still pending a reply.
Please don't put a "24/7 email support" banner if you cannot reply tickets within 1-2 business days.

I connected my site using manual records in Namecheap.

What else should I do?

Looking forward to some help,

Alejandra

Your SSL is active as seen here.

https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=alejandrapenhagill.com

but there is a common name error. This is a namechep issue not Squarespace from the looks of it. These are the correct steps to connect your namecheap domain to squarspace, this is not a transfer.

NAMESERVER CONNECT (RECOMMENDED)
DNS CONNECT

  1. Open the Domains panel.

  2. Click Use a domain I own.
  3. Enter the full domain name you’re connecting in the Enter domain field, then click the arrow.
  4. Click Connect domain.

Note

If you see a message that says "This domain is already connected to another Squarespace site," check your other Squarespace sites to find where the domain is connected. After finding the site, disconnect the domain.

  1. In the "Let's Connect Your Namecheap Domain" panel, select Get Started
  2. In the "Sign in to Namecheap" panel, follow the prompts to log into your Namecheap account. Then click Next to open the "Update your Nameservers" panel.
  3. From your Namecheap account, open your domain dashboard

  4. Open Nameservers and select Custom DNS from the dropdown menu.

  5. Copy and paste the two Squarespace nameserver records below into the Nameserver fields in Namecheap:

    • connect1.squarespacedns.com

    • connect2.squarespacedns.com

  6. Click the green checkmark to Save.

  7. Go back to the "Update Your Nameservers" panel on your site and click Finish
  8. In the "Your domain connection is in progress" panel, click Done.

  1. In the "Let's Connect Your Namecheap Domain" pop-up message, select No, use DNS records
  2. Click Connect domain.
  3. Select Namecheap from the dropdown menu, if it’s not already selected.
  4. In the "Namecheap Sign In" panel, log into your Namecheap account.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. In the "Connection in progress" pop-up message on your site, click Continue.

Now that you've entered the records, it can take 24 to 72 hours for the connection to start working properly. While you wait:

  • You can watch the connection's progress. Return to your Squarespace DNS Settings, click Refresh records, and the Current Data column will show green labels as your domain connects. When the domain is correctly linked, it will appear in the Domains panel with a Connected label.
  • It’s normal to see errors in the Domains panel or when visiting your domain for up to 72 hours after completing the steps in this guide. If you see any error messages after 72 hours has passed, see our tips below, or visit Troubleshooting domain connections.

Hi Derrick!

Thank you for your reply!

  1. I disconnected my domain
  2. I reconnected it using nameservers
  3. Squarespace emailed my confirming my domain was successfully connected

I'll wait for the SSL to process and will be back to mark your reply as a solution!

Thank you again,

Alejandra

UPDATE 07/02/2024:
Still pending SSL - Squarespace told me to add the "Squarespace default" in the DNS Settings submenu.
The "Squarespace default" triggered "Squarespace defaults couldn't be added - We were unable to add these records. Try again later. If this problem continues, contact Customer Support." so I'm back with Customer Support to check what is going on...

Final update:

I disconnected my site again after using Nameservers and followed the Manual connection step by step.

I'm pretty sure I mistyped a record the first time I tried the manual method, so this time I triple-checked every record I was adding and in no time my site was "Connecting" and the SSL was "issued".

Thank you for your help!

It just needed a little longer to process. Your certificate was issued 2.5 hours ago 🙂. I can now view the site without errors.

So the website url is www.riseto.health and email hello@riseto.health - I believe the website is Squarespace provided and email is google, but since they combined I'm wondering if this has caused the issue....
