I'm using a template that has a lot of custom code, so wondering if I broke the social media buttons somehow.

You're not wrong, code can break functionality. Have you tried removing the code? If you'd like someone here to help you'll have to share the website URL so we can have a look at what's causing the problem.

The code you are using in the header has hidden the social icons behind that element (you can tell that they're not clickable because the cursor doesn't change).

This Custom CSS (place at the bottom of your other CSS) limits the width of the logo element in the code to stop the overlap.

.header-layout-branding-center-nav-center .header-title-nav-wrapper .header-title {
    text-align: center;
    flex: 0 0 50%;
}

Let me know if that works.
