How did you develop your return policy?

Recommended Posts

Handling returns and exchanges is an inevitable fact of life for many sellers. A fair return policy can help boost your customers’ trust and confidence in purchasing with you. Think about online purchases that you’ve made— if you’re unsure of an item, don’t you confirm you have the option to return it easily? Here are some tips to crafting a return policy:

  1. Know your payment processor's terms. Some payment processors have a time limitation on refunds (Paypal’s limit is 180 days, for example).
  2. Consider what you’re selling. A merchant who creates custom products may not accept returns but may want to deal with issues on a case-by-case basis.
  3. Make it transparent and visible. You can link your return policy in your footer. If you use Squarespace Commerce, you can display your return policy on your checkout page, as well.
