hutcho
Hello - I am in the process of moving a site from 7.0 to 7.1. I have exported the existing 7.0 blog by exporting the blog to wordpress and successfully downloading a .xml file. When I attempt to upload this file to import into 7.1 I get this error below. Any tips? Thank you! Edited April 10, 2023 by hutcho added more details Link to comment
paul2009
As explained in the guide Importing and exporting content, this tool is not designed to export content from one Squarespace site and import it into another Squarespace site. You may want to explore other options. Did this help? Please give feedback by clicking an icon below ⬇️ Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. asillince
I found the same and this is SO frustrating. But, you can use a really hacky workaround: Export the 7.0 site blog Import this to Wordpress (you just need a basic free blog account) Once it's imported, export the Wordpress site Import the Wordpress export file into Squarespace 7.1 The page layouts won't be great and I haven't got the images across, but at least I have all the posts with their text and can save a lot of time and copy/paste errors! If you have multiple blog pages in your site, you can even export multiple blogs from your 7.0 site into 1 wordpress site, and import them all back into Squarepace together. And then recategorise them into separate blogs again like this. Note: If you want to maintain your authors on the blog posts make sure to have an exactly matching user in Wordpress for each author so it can map them Link to comment
paul2009
If you’d like to keep your formatting exactly as it was in 7.0, then I personally recommend the Tools PRO Chrome extension (or the standard version if in a tight budget). It is a paid product but it can literally save hours by moving any Sqsp blog from one site to another.
