I'm not sure you'll be able to extend the drop-down exactly how you are describing, the positioning would be tricky to get right, that said this plugin works great for a more substantial menu setup:

You would have to build a section in the footer for each dropdown section, adding the links manually, but they are at least simple text links.

You may want to change the design since alignment to the navigation link will still be difficult.
