New Subscriber notifications not working

I want notifications when new subscribers sign up and I have connected my newsletter block to Google Drive as the help article says, but no notifications come.  This seems to be because the Google sheet thinks its owner has made the update and notifications only come when other users update.  (I have done an update as another user and the notification does come then).  The Squarespace help 'Receive notifications when subscribers sign up' seems to be incorrect.  Am I missing something?  Thanks!

I think you only receive notifications from Squarespace if you are using their mailing list.

You can get notifications from Google if you set up the sheet under a different account so that you Squarespace account is seen as an alternate user.

Or you can configure a zap to send you an email: zapier.com

Thanks for your help qosmic but I have tried this and still get no notifications when Squarespace updates the sheet, even though it was created by a different user.  I have checked that updates from a third user DO create notifications - but Squarespace doesn't.  Can you think of anything else I might be doing wrong?
