Add block to all product pages?

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I'm relatively new to Squarespace and so worried I'm just asking my questions in the wrong way:) I'm helping a client explore the possibilities of using Squarespace for their site, and am having trouble figuring out how to add a piece of content to either all product pages, or a subset of product pages determined by category. I believe I'm working with Squarespace 7.1.

The client would like to be able to automatically include an associative nav - links with thumbnail images to each category - below the main section of the product page (see attached, using the Montclaire teplate).

I can create a gallery block that'll do what we need (unless anyone has a better suggestion, of course!), but the only way I can see to attach it to the product page is by adding a gallery block to the Additional Info section in Edit Product - as far as I understand, this needs to be done manually for each product. Furthermore, I can't see a way to get Additional Info to load up saved blocks, so the block needs to be recreated from scratch each time. Instead, I'd like to have the block pre-built into the page template.

My questions:

  1. Is what I've summarized above true?
  2. Is there a way of accomplishing what I'm after?
  3. Will other themes offer this feature out-of-the-box, or are Squarespace themes limited to changes in typography, colour &c.?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes. The only way is add to Additional of each product

If you want to do this for all, you will need to use custom code.

The idea here is to create a page at Not Linked, design your content, then tag the products where you want that content to appear, then use the code to pull the content from Not Linked into the products.

If you need code, first create a Not Linked Page > Add associative nav/content what you want > Share link to your site, we can help easier

@tuanphan I got carried away and added some markup using code injection - is this what you had in mind? I'm hoping there's a way to import a gallery from the associative nav page automatically, so my client doesn't need to call me every time they add a new category.

Which code did you use?

I started with generated code from a gallery, then simplified it for easier styling.

The gallery page is still there - I'd very much like to see the solution you're proposing, if you're willing to share.

It requires a plugin, you can consider adding a section to Footer, I can give code to move it to Additional Info of all products

In case you still want to use the plugin, let me know, I will do a quick guide, then you can apply for future cases

thank you! i'd love more info for the plugin as well as code if its in the footer.

Im already using content in the footer which is connected to the megamenu - is this still possible?

Which mega menu plugin did you use? I guess the plugin use a specific section in Footer, we can target another section.

I wrote a quick guide here (use section in Footer + use page in Not Linked), you can check
