Button state (visited) wrong on IRL mobile, ok on desktop, ok on previews

The button is part of the header. On my iPhone, the visited state fills in the square, and the text content is not visible. This view is after the download link has been activated.

It does not happen on any Squarespace previews, desktop or mobile.

Screenshot attached. Button has been styled with no fill, pink outline, pink type.

Add to Design > Custom CSS 

a.theme-btn--primary.btn.sqs-button-element--primary {
    border-color: var(--menuOverlayButtonBackgroundColor) !important;
    background-color: transparent !important;
    color: var(--menuOverlayButtonBackgroundColor) !important;
}
