susieT Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 I'm trying to upload images but the uploader doesn't recognize their file type even though the extension is .png. It's hurting their feelings (and stopping me from getting this done). Help!
Solution creedon Posted March 16, 2023 Solution Posted March 16, 2023 My guess would be either they are not PNG files. A file can be mislabeled with the wrong file extension. Or, the files are corrupted. Try to post one up here in the forum and we can check out out. If it is a bad file you may not be able to post it here but it doesn't hurt to try. susieT 1 Find my contributions useful? The file looks ok to me and opens but I can't upload it here either so maybe you're right. Found alternatives. Thanks 👍 creedon 1

They don't go by the extension but by the file content. The programs read the file and if they recognize the format they will open it. So opening a file does not mean it is the same file type as the extension indicates. Many programs will also have an info panel that when opened will give you basic information about the image file; dimensions, resolution, file type, and etc. susieT 1 Find my contributions useful? takis-7124 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) How about this one though @creedon ? Uploads fine, looks fine but still, getting the error "there was an error. retry with the same file". With this and another 61 from the same source. Any ideas? **UPDATE** I honestly cannot follow what goes in the heads of the programmers. The problem, apparently, was that I was trying to upload in a folder in the library and not to the root of the library. Seriously, wtf? Why would it make any sense first to upload on root and then spend time to tick and move in the folder Edited January 18 by takis-7124 Beyondspace 1
gerardsyd Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Wow - i had this same issue and it is definitely a root vs folder issue. Half the files uploaded in the folder but the others didn't. When i tried uploading to the root, everything uploaded fine. Crazy.
