Cannot Tag Websites

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to set up Google Analytics for my Squarespace website. I have pasted the Google tag ID into the Google Analytics section of Squarespace but I cannot proceed. It accepts my link but I am receiving a Google Analytics notification telling me to check that my tags are set up properly and that it cannot collect data. Has anybody experienced this?

Thank you

PS: sorry, link may not be helpful.

Google Tag manager and Google Analytics are different (mostly) so you may need to place the Google Tag into the Advanced Header Code Injection instead.

Hi @KimberleyDoyle - make sure you're pasting the GA4 measurement ID into the relevant External APIs field in your Squarespace site. It's easy to get confused between that and the Property ID, Data Stream ID etc in the GA4 settings.

This article has some screenshots that should help: https://www.bluehillsdigital.com/articles/squarespace-google-analytics/#add-ga4-squarespace

Hope that helps.
