How can I remove the sliding animation from the carousel slideshow?

I think the question is pretty self-explanatory, I have a carousel slideshow on my website and I want it to immediately switch to the next slide without "sliding" over to it. Or is there any better way to do this?

What version of Squarespace are you using? With the latest 7.1, in gallery sections you can change the animation style between images:

I think maybe I made a mistake when writing the question. You're right, but this only applies to the gallery slideshow; I am using a carousel (.user-items-list-carousel). I don't see an option there to change the animation...

You're right List sections are different to a Gallery section.

The slide animation looks too baked in to the experience, part of being able to swipe left and right, I don't think that going to be possible to change.
