crop or remove padding for natively uploaded 2.35.1 video

Recommended Posts

I'm uploading short clips of video on my blog/portfolio, using squarespace to natively upload the video within the video block allows me to loop, autoplay, mute, and hide all the player controls, when the video is 16:9 or 1.85:1 it looks great

however I frequently also work with 2.35:1 video (even wider) and when I upload these clips there is a lot of padding in the video block, this starts to look especially bad when one video block sits on top of the other, its a lot of extra space

is there a way to crop these blocks? or ideally have the video block be more responsive site wide?

it's not going to be an effective solution for me to target each uploaded specifically with custom code, but if there was a way to target all blogs that used a particular tag or category then that would work well

I have found solutions online for aspect ratios that go taller than 16:9, but I can't find any solutions for when the video hight is less than the standard 16:9
