INSTAGRAM keeps disconnecting from SQUARESPACE

Hi,

My Instagram feed is not showing up at all. It used to work fine and now it doesn't.

My IG account is linked and 'pull enabled' I have also reset the data as well.

When I click on the block it doesn't allow me to choose an account and has a yellow warning saying:

There is no valid account connected yet. Select an existing connected account from the dropdown, or select Add an Account to connect a new one.

I am unsure how to fix this issue or why it has happened so any assistance would be great as to why this is happening.

I'm having a weird issue where my INSTAGRAM FEED keeps disconnecting from my WEBSITE homepage!

Please continue to report this issue to Squarespace Customer Care directly.

There is an ongoing issue where Instagram feeds stop updating on Squarespace websites. This issue is usually caused when Instagram issue an update to their code (their API). This breaks the authentication between the two services and requires the user to authorise the connection to Instagram again. As this is a technical issue, there isn't anything further that forum users can do.

Hello

I integrated my instagram account 'inspire_ventures' on my website. It was showing the most updated posts but it's not anymore.

It shows the below but it's missing the last few posts. I've tested this on 2 laptops and on my cell phone so it's not a device refresh issue

Sadly, this is a widely reported issue. Please contact Squarespace Customer Care to add your voice to the requests for this to be resolved.

My client's Instagram wasn't updating on the site in the Instagram block, so we disconnected and reconnected the account. Now it doesn't load any photos and is entirely blank! We contacted Squarespace support, and they said it's a very complex issues they are looking into, but they aren't able to provide a timeline for when it will be resolved.

I've tried deleting the block and starting new ones, but no luck.

Are there any workarounds? Can I embed Instagram using some custom code or similar? Would appreciate your suggestions!!

Thank you!

I feel bad that I encouraged my client to migrate from Wordpress to Squarespace, but not being able to have the simple functionality of an Instagram is not looking good!

same problem here – feed not updating, resetting data did not do the trick, reauthenticated/reconnected account, now the entire block is blank (see attached screenshot, block will display blank in live mode) with no way to reintegrate the instagram feed – tried deleting and reconnecting the account plus deleting and re-adding the block (both under classic editor and fluid engine) multiple times, to no avail.

acknowledged by squarespace's support team as a bug plus the usual our engineering team is looking into it and we can't provide a timeframe for a solution info i can recite by heart by now. i know they will  – eventually, whenever that may be – but i agree with @BajanCode that this is incredibly frustrating when you've told clients that squarespace just works and they opted for this paid solution over a wordpress site and now a basic thing like the instagram block (which is a central part of their website – and now gone) does not. this is not the only current bug that i am waiting for to get fixed, but that's another story.

does anyone have an idea for a temporary fix to get the feed back on track – maybe @paul2009? thanks in advance.

update: i can now confirm (via another squarespace site for a client) that simply resetting the data (without reauthentification) can also irreversibly break the instagram feed (going from out of sync to permanently displaying no content at all).

Yes, wondering the same thing. I do not want to disconnect because of all the issues posted here, but my feed has not been updated in a year.

Hi all! Running through the troubleshooting steps in the Instagram block guide typically resolves a lot of common connection issues:

Instagram block troubleshooting

Disconnecting and reconnecting the account is often particularly helpful. Just make sure to re-select your Instagram account in the Instagram block afterward, or replace the Instagram block altogether.

If that doesn't work, you may want to reach out to Customer Support since it could be a bug.

As @paul2009  mentioned - the issue happens because Instagram makes changes on their end. Sadly, we can't stop Meta from changing their code. But, fortunately the fix on our end to get it syncing again is super simple and takes less than a minute! The way to fix the instagram issue is basically to make a "fake edit" to the Instagram block on your squarespace site to re-trigger the feed again.
  1. Open a browser and login to your Squarespace website.
  2. Open a new browser tab and log into the Instagram account that you want feeding into your website.
  3. Go back to Squarespace and click “EDIT” into the page (or footer section) where your Instagram block lives.
  4. Double click into the Instagram block and click where it says “Connect an Account” — and select “add account.” (Yes, you are doing this even if your correct account is already in there!)
  5. A pop-up is going to open - click okay and follow the prompts to allow Instagram and Squarespace to work together.
  6. Save your page!
  7. Refresh your page or open your live site in a new browser tab to review the changes.
I've been getting this question a lot lately so i actually created a blog post with the fix as well - there is also a video, if you need it. https://www.letsmakeasite.com/blog/how-to-fix-squarespace-instagram-disconnect
Thanks!

new site with Instagram block will not update.

I tried all the troubleshooting solutions, and it is still not updating.  Does anyone have a workaround or update?
