Embed block takes unnecessary vertical space in layout

When I use an Embed block, it creates a message that is not part of the final content, but nevertheless enlarges the block and takes space from my layout. It is a particular problem in my footer. In the example below, I use embedded code for a button. Another example would be to add code to automatically keep the year of the copyright notice updated. In both cases, the embed block pushes the bottom of the footer down well below the content and I am unable to pull it back up because of the problem message. Is there a solution?

In edit mode, the footer looks like this:

And the displayed content looks like this:740784495_Extrafooterheight.png.2b5ae8a8e288638acb3f08dfad08f1f0.png

This is a known issue when adding code or embeds to Fluid Engine sections. Although you could use CSS could to temporarily hide these messages, I'd advise against this as this can cause problems with the section editor.

I believe the engineers have plans to move these warning messages and buttons from individual blocks and place them at the bottom of the page instead (see below). In the meantime, you may want to report this issue to Squarespace Customer Care directly.

@LPearlstine I've found that adding this to your Custom CSS helps:

html.squarespace-damask .sqs-blockStatus, .sqs-block .removed-script {
    display: none !important;
}

It hides the messages that stretch the embed block, and allows you to make it a much better size.

Until there's a fix, I hope that helps you!
