cdelehanty
I've asked this question before but recently found an example of a link opening a light-boxed video embedded from Vimeo. Check out the watch demo link in the tour section of the Squarespace website. Wondering how I could implement this into my site using Bedford. http://squarespace.com/tour/overview Link to comment
Alan-Squareflair
Use the Gallery block for this. From inside the gallery options, you can add a video, and display the video in a lightbox view. See the following images for the steps... Link to comment
cdelehanty
I'm sorry but I get this answer every time I ask this question. I'm not sure if I'm asking my question the right way. The answer you gave me doesn't open a video in a lightbox like it does in the link I provided. This would bring the user to a different page. I want the video to open in lightbox when you click a link that is in the banner area so you don't have to go to a separate page to watch the video. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dns7drqyim87se7/Screen%20Shot%202014-02-22%20at%202.49.52%20PM.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/5dus35mis3r0isn/Screen%20Shot%202014-02-22%20at%202.49.58%20PM.png Link to comment
Alan-Squareflair
The answer I gave you opens the video in a lightbox. Click the video here: http://www.californiapools.com/our-story/ If that doesn't open in a lightbox, then the problem is with your browser that's blocking a script. Link to comment
cdelehanty
It does open a video in a lightbox but only if you can embed a gallery into the page. You can't embed a gallery into a banner area. You also can't open a gallery item from a text link unless that text link opens a new page where the video lives. Look at the page I linked and try watch the video in the banner. When you click on the watch demo text it opens the demo video in a lightbox in the same page. It doesn't send you to a new page where the gallery is. I appreciate the help @alanhouser. I hope this helps you understand what my actual question is. Link to comment
Alan-Squareflair
You can embed a gallery anywhere you want. It's never easy, but it's totally possible. (still building this out, but) on this site, I've positioned two individual gallery blocks— both with videos that play in lightboxes. It's just a matter of using CSS + jquery to position existing elements and making them behave the way you want. site-link (password: matt) You can either do this using a Gallery block with video -or- you could use a third-party lightbox like FancyBox, but either way— if you want video in a header or outside of a normal content area as you've requested, it would require custom html / css / scripting to do it. Guest Isaac
For someone new to all this, where would you find the custom html / css / scripting in order to make this work? I'm trying to get a banner image to open a lightbox video (like this: http://www.squarespace.com/the-icarus-deception/) but I haven't been able to find the code that is required. Link to comment
Onur Kutlu Gago
I also want to do the exact same thing as Icarus Deception (http://www.squarespace.com/the-icarus-deception/). Has anyone managed to do it? Link to comment
