Transferring from Wix

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I am looking to transfer over to Squarespace for our business.

The concern I am having is around the email accounts we have over at Wix, which are managed by Google. I cannot afford to lose these - we have 10-11 email accounts that I need to keep.

We have thousands of emails that I cannot lose. We are a legitimate sized company and I cannot lose this data.

Does anyone know if this can be done and how we go about it?

Regards,
Guy

If you are using Google Workspace purchased through Wix, you can contact Wix and ask for the billing to be switched over to Google. They usually advise you to cancel your mailbox subscriptions with Wix and then follow up with support so they can transfer over the account to Google. You can then manage the Google Workspace subscription directly with Google.

Many thanks Paul, I am going to look at this once I have finalised the site design.

Moving from a Wix-managed Google Workspace subscription to a Google managed subscription isn't really something that I can help you with on a Squarespace forum, but I can understand your concerns.

If you aren't sure how to do this, I recommend contacting Google Workspace support or hiring a professional to help you.

They say that the data is stored for 180 days.

This is all a little concerning - Google Workspace Support refers me back to Wix, and Wix is an automated chat function.

I've already paid for my Squarespace package but this is definitely a concern, I have 7-8 active emails and tonnes of data on them.

I have been on Wix, but haven't had their email service but if it's similar to other reseller agreements, you should be okay. I know that in the past when I have moved from Squarespace hosted to Google hosted it was a matter of cancelling and then setting up billing with Google directly. I didn't lose anything in the process and there were no interruptions.

HOWEVER, that is just my experience in general. Wix does offer a call back. When you are in your help chat in your dashboard type in CALL BACK until you get a popup that asks what you need to chat about and then pick Mailboxes and follow the prompts. You should be able to either request a callback or schedule a callback.

They are understaffed and if the call center doesn't have people in your language available the request callback feature won't appear. If that happens just try again later and it should pop up.

Data is retained on Google Workspace servers for 180 days according to Google's policy. You would need to set up billing directly with Google or another retailer before that 180 days expired.
